We can sum up this week's readings in the following ways: racism in urban space is a relationship between disinvestment and reinvestment, where disinvestment is constituted by planned shrinkage/triage policies to create areas that are "left to die," and reinvestment is constituted by capital-intensive developments/state-resources to create and promote areas that are "remaining alive." Spatial racism therefore is a relational structure between "left to die" and "remaining alive." In your experience, have you encountered such relational urban spaces?
