With the health care system changing rapidly, nurses should join one or more organizations. The value of networking in nursing profession provide many opportunities to gain knowledge on whats going on in society, better peer to peer interaction with other nurses group, and can influence the legislature on acting or passing certain rules and regulations in health care system. Additionally, according to ANA nurses who network and participate on peer to peer discussion has better opportunities on advancing into their career. Three years ago I was a member of AAHFN stand for American Association of Heart Failure Nurses. I attend two conferences in Tampa Florida, expenses paid by me. I gain knowledge on how you educate patient with Congestive Heart Failure. I am able to teach my patient on their level of understanding by not using medical terms. One day my old manager called me in her office and informed me about a patient who went to the clinic, brought the folder I hand him with weight documented daily. The MD from the clinic ask a patient who educate him and my name was mentioned. I was greatful for the recognition. Sadly, I did not renew my membership after, but I am looking forward to join again and thinking of other ways to improve on re admission and increase mangement of CHF at home one of these day.
