Question Description
After learning about fallacies in Chapter 11.3 Persuasive Reasoning and Fallacies from your readings last week, hopefully you will be able to start recognizing faulty logic in everyday life – it is all around us! Recognizing fallacies helps us to be more critical consumers of messages. This week, you will submit a discussion board post with two different types of fallacies.
To complete this assignment, do the following:
Find an example of two different fallacies in the newspaper, viewable news, magazines, commercials, talk-radio, et cetera.
Note: Do not use examples that you find from googling “slippery slope” fallacy.
Include the following information for each of the two fallacies:
- An example (picture, link, or vivid description)
- Identify the fallacy
- Define the fallacy (What type of fallacy is it?)
- Explain why your examples are a type of that particular fallacy
