The theme for this paper is based about a person in government of 1950-2000.

• Federal elected person may be from congress, such as federal Representative or Senator, a President, Cabinet, or Supreme Court Justice.
• State governor or state legislative

Your paper is focused on what this person, male or female did during their service of 1950-2000 that reflects historical significance in American history. Be specific in your theme, rather than providing a whole history of that person. The history of the person is not vital, what is important for your essay is what this person achieved or failed to accomplish. Discuss ONE issue this person was responsible for and then expand that into your essay. For example:

• President Dwight Eisenhower pushed through the Interstate highway system. How did it effect the way people lived, where they lived, and how products became available.
• Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun wrote the majority decision of Rowe v. Wade. How has that changed the court and the United States.
• Richard Nixon became the first, and only, President to resign. How did this effect the Presidency?
