3. Briefly summarize the myth.

4. What is the character of Pyramus like? What are two specific actions Ovid uses to help convey his character?

5. What is the character of Thisbe like? What are two specific actions Ovid uses to help convey her character?

6. Does Ovid make Pyramus and Thisbe seem like realistic, believable characters? Why (not)? Does this fit his practice as described in the presentation?

7. What is the main theme of the myth? Is this typical of Ovid, as described in the presentation? What effect does the emphasis on this theme (rather than on Pyramus' status as a river-god, for example) have for the Roman audience (or us)?

8. What metamorphosis happens in the story? How important is it to the characters or the main theme?

9. Where else have you encountered this basic story? Do you think Ovid succeeded in "universalizing" a local myth about a river-god, so that it became meaningful for the Romans and Western Civilization in general?
