you are going to investigate some common violations of international standards for human rights and acceptable standards for the treatment of prisoners that occur in your chosen country. Violations could include but are not limited to:
- Prison overcrowding
- Poor living conditions, disease, etc
- Extreme violence or brutality
- Discrimination in incarceration
- Housing of vulnerable populations (women, children, pre-trial detainees)
- Use of corporal punishment, solitary confinement, and/or prisoners serving as guards
Relate your findings back to our course material regarding prison issues.
