Once you’ve read and noted all four essays on metacognition, compose a six-paragraph essay thatserves as an extended definition, explaining for your reader the concept of metacognition. First, inyour intro, begin with some general history of the topic without citing or referencing any specifictexts. Transition toward an underlined thesis, its umbrella idea about the process of metacognition.

In the body of your essay, provide four paragraphs, each focused on a different research material,using details from that research material to explain part of the idea of metacognition. In all, you’llpull a piece from each of the four research materials to help lay out your explanation of metacogni-tion. In each case, introduce the author without identifying the title of their essay; you can, however,mention where their essay was published. Quote short snippets from each essay to provide supportfor your topic sentences. Quote correctly. Blend in quoted snippets. Avoid long and floating quotes.And never quote in a topic sentence.
