After reading this week's devotional, post your personal thoughts on what the Devotional means to you and how you find it applicable in your study right now.

During last week, did you experience the Bible leading your life? Is your research proposal guided by the Word of God? Do you have one or two verses that give a direction to your research?

If you have put the ultimate purpose of research as God’s glory and knowing God and being known God, I think the core embedded idea, value or goal of your research should be aligned with God’s Word, and you can find a verse directly or indirectly related to your topic.

Let me shortly share an experience during my doctoral study.

My research for the dissertation was about teachers’ sociocultural identities in the context of multicultural education, which can be said teachers’ orientation toward justice and equity.

Even though I did not need to address and could not explicitly address either, I wanted to develop my discussion in accordance with what God says about that.

Therefore, I asked God to show what is justice and equity in the kingdom of God and for a year I mediated on the Bible from Genesis to Revelation to seek what God speaks about.

Thankfully, in the book of Isaiah, I found that injustice is grounded in our greed and we fail in the responsibilities to practice His justice and love. I was also able to confirm that God wants us to love each other and secure peace in community by establishing a social system in which privileged people do not have anxiety to have more and people who has less are not oppressed by any limitation.

• The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever (Isaiah 32:17)

This verse gave me guidance on my dissertation, and I was able to keep staying in track of seeking God’s heart during writing the dissertation.
